I am delighted to inform you that the Governing Body of King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Boys has appointed Mr. Russell Bowen as Headmaster of the school. He will take up his position from September 2021, replacing our current Headmaster, Mr Martin Garrod.

Mr Bowen will join us from Bishop Vesey Grammar School, where he holds the position of Deputy Headteacher whilst being the lead of Pastoral in the school and Head of KS4. King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Boys will be Mr Bowen’s first headship.

Mr Bowen is a graduate of the University of Cambridge having studied Engineering, followed by a Post Graduate Certificate of Education in Cert. Mathematics in Education from the University of Warwick. Mr Bowen lives in Sutton Coldfield with his family.

Mr Bowen is deeply committed to his role and is keen to build a vision around the concepts of everyone “being and doing their best” Mr Bowen also said “I will seek to preserve the core ethos of the Camp Hill Family and all its strengths, continuing to uphold the high academic standards whilst looking to develop the already impressive breadth of enrichment. I will promote and celebrate diversity within the school curriculum and our community, building on our extensive offering of sports, arts, drama, cultural exchanges, languages and more”.

Mr Bowen also subscribes to the vision and values of the King Edward VI Academy Trust and Governors firmly believe he will be an excellent Headmaster and will continue to build on the successes achieved by Mr Martin Garrod.
