King Edward VI Foundation Birmingham welcomes Lordswood Girls’ School

The King Edward VI Foundation Birmingham is delighted to announce that Lordswood Girls’ School will be joining the organisation on the 1st September 2022. We are currently working closely with the school on their academy transfer, which received approval from the West Midlands Regional Advisory Board in December.

Lordswood Girls’ School is a successful comprehensive academy, located in Harborne, in South West Birmingham. The school, which is judged Outstanding by Ofsted, has a strong reputation for its academic, sporting, and artistic achievements.

From September 2022, Lordswood Girls’ School will officially join the ten existing King Edward VI Academies in the Academy Trust, as well as the wider Foundation’s two independent schools. In the meantime, work begins on all the legal academy transfer requirements whilst involving the school in collaborative initiatives taking place across the Foundation.

Kerry Cooney, Headteacher at the school, comments: “We are very excited to be joining the King Edward VI Foundation and all it stands for.

“The quality of Lordswood Girls’ School lies in the richness of its aspirations, the commitment of its learners and the quality of the relationships within and beyond the school building. Through working with other schools in the Foundation, we look forward to further developing connections and partnerships around the City of Birmingham.”

Jodh Dhesi, Chief Executive Officer for the King Edward VI Foundation said: “We are thrilled to be welcoming another comprehensive school to join us on our mission to make Birmingham the best place to be educated in the UK. Lordswood Girls’ School is an excellent school providing an effective, rounded education and delivering strong results. In joining the King Edward VI Foundation, the school will build on its strengths, whilst continuing to meet the needs of the local community and support all children regardless of ability.”

We look forward to working closely with staff at Lordswood Girls’ School and welcoming them into the King Edward VI Foundation Birmingham.”
