MAKE – 2e. Materials & Components (Electrical Components)

There are many different types of Electrical and Electronic components. Components such as Switches, Bulbs, Motors are electrical and Resistors, Capacitors and Diodes are electronic

What is the difference between electrical and electronic circuits?

Well first of all a complete electrical circuit allows electricity to flow through the components to complete the job it was designed to do. Now the main question about the difference between electrical and electronic circuits, electrical circuits do not make decisions, whilst electronic circuits do make decisions. An electric circuit simply powers machines with electricity.

How many different components are there and what are they?

There are too many to count and always being added to.

The main electrical components you need to remember are cells or batteries, switches, lamps, buzzers, motors and the most important wires, to join them all together.

Some of the main electronic components are resistor, capacitor, transistor, diode and logic gates.

Electronic components are meant to be connected together by soldering them to a printed circuit board (PCB), to create an electronic circuit.

All circuits are different, depending on its final use for example an amplifier or radio.
