Separating Mixtures

he method you choose to separate a mixture depends on the type of materials you have. The main methods are:

1. A mixture of solids – use sieving. E.g. separating sand and soil

2. A mixture of an insoluble solid and a liquid – use filtering E.g. separating tea leaves and tea

3. A mixture of a soluble solid in water – use evaporation E.g. salt in water

There are other ways too – for example if you have two materials and one is magnetic and the other is not you can use a magnet, or if you have two liquids like all and water you can decant them. Watch the video below for more ideas.
